Previous works and passion projects.

Zorn Palette & Double Primary

Acrylic on illustration board

2018

Self-portrait study in separate colour palettes.

The Big Melt

Acrylic on wood panel

2018

Created for a project on the effects of climate change, this piece serves as a visual metaphor for the melting of permafrost, and the rapid warming of the planet. I was directed to work in greyscale, so that greatly informed my image considerations.

Door 7

Acrylic on canvas

2019

I was out for a walk on a beautiful day when I saw this door, dappled with sunlight. I often see the number 7 repeated throughout my life, and I feel that it is represented during moments of spiritual importance. This felt like a significant instance to capture.

Ruined Innocence

Gouache on illustration board

2018

This is a diptych based on the concept that children who seek to grow up too fast may accidentally destroy the parts of their childhood that are beautiful before they can appreciate them.

Kai

Gouache on illustration board

2018

Kai is an original character of mine, a popular and sassy pink cat who lives along a riverbed.

A Picture of Oregon

Gouache collage on paper

2017

This is my reworked concept for Sufjan Stevens’ beloved album Carrie & Lowell. I wanted to associate it visually with the other two albums from his now abandoned 50 states project, as the album for the state of Oregon. The collage style imagery was inspired by the cover of Michigan.

Study 2

Oil on Canvas

2017

Study of two pink fabrics, to experiment with how different textures reflect light.

Handsomest Drowned Man

Acrylic on illustration board

2019

Based on the 1968 short story by Gabriel García Márquez, in which a small fishing village finds the dead body of a man washed up on shore. I looked to represent how anyone can grow from a terrible situation if they are capable of seeing their own potential.

Library

Acrylic on illustration board

2018

Bebelplatz in Berlin is home to a memorial commemorating the horror of the Nazi book burnings, made by Micha Ullman. The memorial is a rather eerie installation of illuminated empty bookcases. I hope one day to see it in person. This image came from the concept of ghosts of the past personified, haunting the present as a warning.

Earthenware

Acrylic on canvas paper

2019

This piece is centred around studying a collection of earthenware. An orange light source is placed in the image to create an intriguing visual contrast against the flat green fabric, and to bounce light off of the shiny surfaces.

Victoria

Watercolour on paper

2018

A fantasy portrait depicting Victoria as a woodland elf in a garden. She is partially hidden by leaves, and looks at something out of frame, to give the viewer an illusion of looking in on a rare and precious moment that the subject is not aware they are a part of.

Luxury

Acrylic on illustration board

2019

Glitter, lingerie, and a beautifully wrapped blunt are front and centre in this portrait piece on modern luxury. I used this portrait as an opportunity to focus on studying the shape and form of hands.

Greenery & Glassware

Acrylic on wood board

2018

This piece is a study of different styles of glassware. I took it as an opportunity to examine levels of transparency and reflectivity.

Alexander Supertramp

Marker, gouache, and pencil crayon on paper

2018

This image is based off of the story of Chris McCandless, an American hiker who left behind the comforts of modern civilization in hopes to live off the land. In the wilds of Alaska he found the abandoned Fairbank Bus 142 and used it as his home until he passed away from starvation. In his journals he referred to himself as Alexander Supertramp.
