Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I book with you?

Bookings are now being moved to email. This is to keep my correspondences more organized and streamlined. You can send an email to selfcriticink@gmail.com or reach out through the contact form.

When you are sending an email make sure to include the following:

-visual refrences that you would like used for inspiration, or a detailed description of the image you would like

    -details on placement/location

-sizing of the tattoo height and width in inches

-any days that you are not avaliable.

  • How should I prepare for my tattoo?

Take care of the area of skin you would like to be tattooed! Daily moisturization and sunscreen application will keep the skin healthy and undamaged. It is not ideal to tattoo over scratches or sunburnt skin, as this can cause fallout or fading. Do not worry about shaving if it is not part of your regular routine, we have razors at the shop and will shave the area as part of prep. Please eat before your appointment! Not eating before a tattoo can lead to uncontrollable shaking, and potentially passing out. Make sure you are dressed to easily expose the area that will be tattooed, and in a way that will be most comfortable for you. Don’t wear clothing that is too precious to you as tattoo ink can stain.

  • How do deposits work?

Deposits are to be paid at the time of booking in order to secure your appointment. Deposits are $50, and will be included as part of the final payment of the tattoo. Crow & Anchor Tattoo Co does not have a POS system capable of taking debit or credit card payments, and so payments are made directly to the artist either through E-Transfer or in cash. Deposits are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule your appointment for any reason your original deposit will still apply to your new appointment time if you give at least 48 hours notice. If you need to reschedule your appointment less than 48 hours before you will have to pay a new deposit for your new appointment, except in extreme cases where 48 hours warning could not be given, to be assessed by the artist on a case-by-case basis.

  • What should I do if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Reach out to me via email, making sure to include the date and time of the appointment you are looking to cancel or reschedule. Again, keep in mind if you cancel or rebook an appointment that you have paid a deposit on within 48 hours of the appointment your original deposit is forefit. If you are needing to cancel or reschedule last minute due to an emergency or extreme case, please reach out to me via text at (519) 401-4895. Do not worry about me being upset with you or having a negative opinion of you for cancelling or rescheduling for any reason, at any time! The deposit is there to make sure I am still compensated for the time I spend designing and scheduling, which is why it is kept during last minute cancellations. You are always welcome to book another appointment!

  • Whats the deal with tipping?

Tipping is not necessary, but always appreciated! Our studio is very fair to our artists, and so tipping here is a luxury rather than an expectation. Not tipping is not disrespectful at all to the artist, and we understand that people budget very precisely. This may be different at other studios where a percentage of each tattoo goes to the studio rather than the artist, so keep in mind this might not apply to all tattoo artists in all situations.

  • How should I handle aftercare?

Wash your hands before removing your wrap, making sure to clean under your nails. If you have been wrapped with plastic wrap it can be removed in a few hours when you are at home. If you have been wrapped with Tegaderm or Saniderm it can be left on for a few days, I find it is best for most to remove around the 2 day mark. If the bandage leaks at all or if anything gets under the bandage, such as shower water, take it off. Wash the area with unscented antibacterial soap, and lightly pat dry with a clean paper towel. Wait a few minutes for the skin to dry and apply your ointment or unscented petroleum-free moisturizer. Typically I reccommend Eucerin Aquaphor for the first 5 days or so, before switching to moisturizer. Do not over moisturize, an injury needs oxygen to heal, just make sure to give enough moisture so that the healing tattoo does not harden or crack. Keeping this in mind you also should not submerge or soak your tattoo in any body of water until it is fully healed on the surface. As your tattoo ages keep it out of the sun, and make sure to wear sunscreen, as too much sun exposure can cause fading.
